Abstract

In this paper, a mathematical model for the transmission dynamics ofrnan Avian Influenza is developed and analyzed. The model incorporatesrnvaccination and public enlightenment campaign in the human population.rnThe effective reproduction number is computed using the next generationrnmethod. Further, the disease-free equilibrium is shown to be locallyrnand globally asymptotically stable whenever the associated reproductionrnnumber is less than unity. Sensitivity analysis results show that somernof the most sensitive parameters are the infection transmission raternfor the bird , isolation rate of human with avian strain andrnpublic enlightenment campaign . Results from the numericalrnsimulation indicate that vaccination and public enlightenment should bernstrengthened in order to curtail the spread of the disease in thernpopulation.
